Question 500E brakes & struts on 300E

I searched but could not find many details.

From anyone who has done the upgrade, do you recommend it?

Will the 500E brake hub and strut bolt directly to the 300E LCA and strut tower?

How much larger are the caliper bores and rotor diameter?

Do I need the 500E Master cylinder and how much larger is it? I believe stock is 23mm.

I have 16" wheels so I expect them to clear the calipers.

I am pretty sure all will fit. I have control arms from an E320 on my 500E (needed to clear the silver arrow 334mm setup). I do not think you need the hub from a 500E, just the rotors and calipers.

As for the strut, it will fit. However, I'm not sure the dampening is right for a 300E.

BTW, if you are looking for a 500E brake setup, let me know. I just pulled mine off yesterday. I have the early aluminum 300mm Brembos, useable rotors and pads, although, they are less than 50%.

Almost everything is different except the LCA. I acquired a detailed spreadsheet from joef on W124 and associated brake parts. He did the big brake conversion also.

Thanks but I already committed to buying these local parts. I'm not even sure if I'll go through with the conversion...

500E struts work fine on a E320 Wagon...if that helps with reference.

Edit: To clarify... I mean that they fit, but also do perform well if you are looking for improved performance over stock. Better than Sportline and not as harsh as H&R(or equiv). The built in rebound is awesome in the 500E and works just as designed in the E320.

are you referring to the springs or struts? I suspect the struts are built by Bilstein or Sachs with 500E spec valving.
