The Hammer used the larger electric 126 speedo which required the 124 cluster to be modified.

I honestly had no idea Mercedes was making M5 and Corvette killers so long ago...
I'm getting more and more impressed with W124's every day.

If you have one, what problems are you having fitting it? I appears to fit over the existing console. This guy was selling these, maybe that person can help. Since it has European climate controls, you should look to UK or German forums.
Send him mail's on his eBay account as well as pm's on the forum.Yet still I did not recieved any reply's

The 0-60 of the 3 liter Merc wasn't much slower then that of a 5.0L American V8.
Everybody speaks of "Muscle Cars", but if you were there when they were new a 0-60 in the mid 7 second range was considered fast !!!
Even the stock 1967 Dodge R/T with the 440 cubic inch / 375 HP Super Commando engine and 727A Torqueflite ran a stock 14.0 / 101 MPH 1/4 mile.
Same car with a 426 cubic inch / 425HP Hemi ran 13.6 /107 MPH.
Times above are on street tires..a bit of modding and racing slicks would knock a second off the times and add a few MPH.
My stock Black Series on the factory Corsa's typically would run mid 12's or better.
The above is not from reading as I owned the 440 when new...

Man, you've been around forever...
I agree, however I've noticed that those seemingly innocuous V8's can produce crazy numbers with a little bit of massaging. An M103/M104 you can't do much with. Unless you go F/I.
I've also owned a V8, a 1990 5.0 Fox. A freer exhaust system, compression bump, and GT40P heads took it up to 290bhp. If modding an M104 was so easy, I'd never consider forced induction!
I thought the Black would be quicker than 12 seconds! Ever tried with slicks? I'd be really interested to know how fast it is.

The more sophisticated an engine and it's management system, the harder it is to make more power.
An old American V8 with carbs and mechanical distributor could be made to go very fast with basics as changing the mechanical advance curve in the distributor along with enriching the AFR via the carb jets and metering rods.
Common to build a 13.5:1 compression motor and with basic tuning you wouldn't have any detonation...
The BS is faster then what I stated..just being conservative !!
