Aftermarket Head-Unit Fitment Question

okay, to start this off I have the stock radio still in my car from 1995, along with all stock speakers. in my other 124, i had a single din poineer and that was no problem to install. however, in the new one i plan to get a flip out touch screen. the only issue is, the stereo sits too far back in the dash under the air controls.

Has anyone done this? I'm thinking i'm going to have to make a spacer of sorts to bring the stereo out an inch or so. What are your guy's thoughts?

Maybe the biggest touchscreen in a w124 dash?

i used to have a flip out screen. mine fit very snugly, so i didn't need a bracket, but basically yes, i made it sit out about an inch or so (flush with the air controls).

mine had a safety so it would only work when the car was in park, but it was an easy bypass, just had to ground that wire and that was it.

I had an Alpine flip out originally and had the same situation. I made a 1" solid trim piece that acted as a build out, out of some black corian I had kicking around.
