Can I lower on 18's?

I just put a set of 18" rims on my car and there is a decent gap. I was wondering if I should have any problems lowering my car, namely with a set of eibach or H&R springs. I am pretty sure the tire size is 225/40-18's, but am not positive. If this would make difference, I can easily get the exact number. Also, if it matters, it would be done to a 1988 300ce. Thanks

If you have the normal 18mm offset on 18x8 inch wheels, you will probably encounter some rubbing when you drop yoru car, I know I did. I ended up rolling my fenders with a ghetto rigged setup with great success, and the look is definitely worth it.

1994 MB E420 RENNtech
I lowered my 94 E420 with H&R springs. I am running 18x8.5 ET35 wheels and 225/40's all around. For about 2 months I did not get the suspension alignment done. I did roll the fenders all around.

After rolling the fenders, I did not have any rubbing problems. I just recently installed the Renntech camber kit for the rear. After installation was complete, I then had the car aligned. After alignment, I had alot of rubbing on the front where the tires were rubbing against the plastic body molding. After about 2 weeks of rubbing, I noticed that it basically rubbed itself-in and now I don't hear it rub anymore.

What does rolling in your fenders mean?

They roll the fender lips more into the body so it gives the tires more clearance inside the wheel well.

I lowered my 300E using H & R's (which I'm tryin to sell) and I put on 18x8 Carlsson 1/6 Evo's w/ 225-40's and I had a lot of rubbing on full lock turns and over bumps on the highway.
