New owner of W124 500E

Hi guys my name is Steve im 25 and i just got myself a 1992 W124 500E with 150k miles. Have been waiting to get myself this car for a long time now but just finaly got it. Its not gonna be an everyday driver ( i got 2006 bmw 545i for that or 2003 dodge ram hemi.) So im looiking to do some major upgrades down the road but for now im gonna start of with all the small stuff and see what condition the drivetrain is in. Im thinking : spar plugs and wires, custom air intakes and hopefully if can find someone thats gonna have enough ***** to make me a custom headers with all new exhaust system. I hope allot of people are still enthusiastic about there W124s

The mods you mention are not needed for the 500e.
You should be able to enjoy it just the way it is.

+1 to what he said. You're not very likely to come up with a better intake than is already present on the V8 W124s. Your 500E is the best of the breed and, if well maintained, should provide you with pride and pleasure for a long time to come! Congrats! And, oh yeah, WHERE ARE THE PICTURES????

I deff. agree with you. im not saying that my car needs mods like that but its more of what i like to get done to the car.
Im a bit of an adrenaline junkie and have allot of ideas that i may or may not ecomplish. I have another project car that i have designed and built about two years ago which ended up being the fastest street legal 2000 dodge stratus. with mods like engine swaps cct`s and 85 shot of nos

Not worth changing your exhaust headers, but high-flow cats, resonator delete, and a BergWerks NOS kit, should give you a relatively inexpensive HP increase.

Looks basically unbent, but who laid a beating on it with an ugly stick?!!!

Hopefully the only problems are superficial, it has inner beauty.

Looking forward to seeing you bring it back to it's former lustre. Another one saved!

You picked up Geoss's 036.

Looks like he decided to sell it after all.

Congrats and hoping to see it restored to her former glory.

Cheers.

Oh yeah i think there was a thread for that car on here a while back. There was also a story on that thread explaining how that happened too, check that thread and im sure you can figure it out.

I was considering buying that car (if it was the one on here) but i simply don't have the money to fix all the dents on it.
Nice to know someone who respects W124s got it in their hands

I think he got a suitable enough replacement for it though.

Can't wait to see what you do with this thing man. NOS and an absolutely mind boggling exhaust would set this thing off right.

I'd just leave it as is and cruise around sleeper style. Nobody will suspect a banged up old Mercedes to take off like a rocket.

Everything's possible, but it will cost you an arm and a leg.

I should think some 500's came with LSD, since many 320's and 300's did. I do not speak from experience, however. Anyone here to clarify?

No 500's came with LSD, it has been added by AMG and others.
I understand that the best is the expensive Quaife LSD.

"AMGdave" on this forum has extensive, expert, knowledge of LSD's for the W124.He drag races with an LSD reared.

I think "rivcal4life" on this forum, also, may have it for racing.
