1995 E320 Wagon
E320 1995 w/ 126,000 miles - When accelerating it will barley go unless the peddle is pushed all the way then it will accelerate and misfire (sounds like backfiring?) any ideas?

This car has an electronic drive-by-wire throttle. Sounds like it is in limp home mode. The starting point for diagnosis is to retrieve the fault codes from the electronic systems.
You can build a code reader tool with $10 worth of parts from Radio Shack. I've never seen any discussion here on pulling the codes, but there is plenty over at the peachparts MB site. Search there on "Arthur Dalton code reader" and you'll pull up plenty of threads on how to diagnose this engine.

W124 Diagnostic Code Reader
Hi- I had a similar issue with my 1991 W124 300TE wagon. I used the code reader tool being offered at www.mercedesplanet.com and it worked well to diagnose the problems. Same tool also is being offered on ebay and the username there is porscheapriliafan.

They have the blinky lights. I've used mine to great effect. Ordered it from the porcheaprillafan EBAY store, very happy & well worth the time.
However, like all things, the m104.980 is a bit of a mystery as its pin-out in the US is not always as described in the code reader sheets, and it appears to have a different list of valid codes.
