1991 300CE Speaker Question
I want to replace all the speakers in my 300ce, but for some reason cannot get a good view on what to replace them with. First off, are there only 2 rear speakers, with 4 fronts (2 in dash and 2 in doors)? What have others replaced their set-up with? Not so interested in top of the line components, just want modern speakers as sound quality is non-existant with current stock set-up. Thanks.

I'd buy the whole set if I were you. You can easily fit the subs in even if you don't have the stock openings.
If you don't want the subs, buy the separate units.
Cheers

Soundstream
Hi
I don;t have the door speakers so I can't advise on them.
However as your a 91 Ce I am assuming you have the 4" in the dash and 5 1/8" in the rear. The rear's can be tricky as it is a weird *** size.
We ended up mounting them below the hole as the existing cutout is not large enough for 5.25" fitting and we needed those as a minimum to get some base response. Bought off Amazon total $180 USD including international shipping.
Very very happy with the sound quality !
Anyway I have fitted :
Soundstream SST5.2 5.25" 100w Rear
Soundstream SST4.0.2 4.0" 170w Front

If you want top end performance and can afford to make the investment, these are the only way to go . . . Jehnert. The OEM in-door speakers are actually subwoofers and this system provides a proper replacement for that function. The system also comes with the front satellites and crossovers (which you can't see in the pictures).

While I agree with the Jehnert route, I do realize not everyone has unlimited budgets. The Rainbow route is an excellent alternative for quick, simple good sound.
I do deal with both products quite heavily and budget tends to usually be the deciding factor.
