Need Help with OBD II

Anyone know where I can download the software for my vehicle (95 E320). I can't seem to find it anywhere online.

A 1995 E320 W124 is not an OBDII equipped vehicle. OBDII became mandatory in 1996. California cars were required to be equipped with an enhanced emissions diagnostics capability, sometimes referred to as OBDI, starting in 1991. MB implemented this functionality via an add-on "diagnostics" module that compiled the necessary data.

Thanks for the fast reply! How can I scan a 1995 E320 W124 then if not with OBDII? Do I use OBDI instead? I have this ASR issue that's driving me nuts! Car won't even start now, died on me today and I've tried a few things to no avail.

I think you have three choices for reading the codes:

1. Get a StarDiagnose system with the proper cable & multiplexer (I list this option only to be academically correct as an SD system is a mega-expensive, professional only affair)

2. There are many aftermarket code readers for MB cars of this vintage (Innova, etc.).

3. Make your own blink code reader (the cheapest). See my post here: Blink Code Reader. While this post was climate control related, the reader and the linked documents will allow you to read the ECU, ASR, et cetera, error codes.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Anyway you can provide me with a dumbed down list of what I need to build the code reader. I'm not that techy but I'm willing to try things on my own. I read your other post on blink code reader.

You might try taking a look at these links: Link 1 and Link 2. Construction is very straight forward and the parts can be obtained from Radio Shack (parts Nos. on the schematic). Perhaps you have a friend with some electronics experience you could tap.

Good luck.
