Question No dash lights

I know you guys get alot of questions about dash lights cause I've read some of the posts regarding this. I'm very new to MB however I have done work on BMW. My parking lights all work fine but the dash light do not. I know about the dimmer switch that dims or brightens the dash lights. And also read something about a red fuse behind the clock and something about a potentiometer. I was wondering if someone could take the time to idiot proof the trouble shooting on this for me. A wiring diagram of this would be great if someone has one to email. Thanks,
Keith

08 Lexus GS350 AWD. 08 Lexus RX350 AWD - wife's. 94 MBZ E320 - still have it.
I would start with the dimmer switch. I had that promlem on my old '86 300E. In my case I pulled out the instrument cluster. The switch is located on the back side of it. On my switch the thin metal band on the rheostat was cracked. So, the soldering iron did the job.
