Um, help? 1988 300E stalling at lights
At first, when idling at a light, the temperature gauge would slowly rise to over 90, then stall out. We changed the thermostat, no fix.
Then, after talking to a Mercedes mechanic, he suggested it my be the temperature sender....which we replaced. So, no more slow rising of the temperature gauge, but it still stalls out in slow traffic or red lights.
What else could it be? I'm thinking the continuos fuel injection sender?
Thanks in advance!
Start basic- the stall at idle, or when coming to a stop, is common when the OVP (Overvoltage protection relay) is going bad. That part wears out, gets filled with dirt, or corrodes to death. If it has never been replaced, it should be done now anyway.
Check that first before digging into the FI system.
