SRS Light on in Morning Only

Hey all!

A couple of months ago I got into an accident with my 1991 300E that deployed the driver's side airbag. Back then I got a steering wheel, airbag, and the SRS computer module from a fellow forum member who was parting out his car (Thanks Hanno!). After seeing how much of a hassle the module was going to be to put in, I disconnected the airbag behind the passenger floorboard along with the glowing SRS light on the dash, vowing to complete the job...someday.
Someday came along when I failed my state inspection. I took the dash apart, installed the module as outlined in the service manual, reinstalled the SRS bulb and connected it behind the floorboard and it worked perfectly for 3 days. The SRS light turned on and off after 3-4 seconds when starting and I passed inspection.
Now, The SRS light comes on in the morning upon startup and remains lit for approx. 2-3 hours and then goes out in the afternoon and works as it should thereafter.

Any ideas?

It's not related to steering wheel position. I've checked for dirt where the seatbelt clips, etc.

Nick
