Vibration problem
My '95 E320 wagon with 60K miles has developed a light oscillating vibration which becomes more audible as a low humming noise between 75 and 90 miles/hour. The vibration also becomes more intens and continues to go up and down. It is barely noticeable, even at high speed, but the humming is quite annoying.
My dealer blames the tires, which are recent Michelins (September 2000), and have been checked for imbalances.
I know there's a Technical Bulletin, suggesting that the problem may be fixed by balancing the driveshaft or placing a vibration damper at the rear subframe.
Has anyone ever come across anything that sounds like the above?
How does a driveshaft get unbalanced?
Many thanks for the advice.

Check the track rod ends
I wore out a set of fronts in 20K miles with bad track rod ends.
The simptom after a while is bad wear on the inside edge of the fronts.
But the vibration sounds the same as you have.

I have a set of Goodyear Regatta's on my '95 W202. I have the same problem except mine is worse. Mine alternates between vibrating the car slightly and the steering wheel. The dealer also blamed the tires for mine, as I thought it was the lower or upper control arm bushings.
