It's a '90 model 300e, I saw on the web that It was a total loss back in 2002, but the title does not indicate that. I do know however that it has been repaired, but you wouldn't know that by driving it.Tire wear seems to be even,It is squeak free, alignment is great, and no shudders or instability even at 125mph.I love this car.

What you'll find in disassembling a Merc is that they don't use self tapping screws to attach any part.
All fasteners thread into an insert, clip or nut which always maintains as close to perfect factory fit as possible.
I have a forty year old merc ( 1971 280SL ) which is as tight as the day it came off the production line...
Any squeeks, or noises you find in a Merc are usually caused by age/mileage deterioration of rubber parts.
Good luck and enjoy your Merc for many years !!!![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

That's a very interesting observation! I don't have much experience with other makes but the way MBs are assembled, I do agree 100%, replace rubbers and have a brand new car. That's the reason I got into wrenching, they are comprehensible assemblies, coming from lego's it was a natural transition.![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Clean car by the way!

So yours was totaled but has a 'clean' title. My 85 wagon had a dented rear pass door with broken glass and now has a 'rebuilt auto' on it's title! Curses! lol

My thought process is that they maintain tension as the screws and nuts start to back out (over years and years with all the vibrations) thereby keeping it a noise/ squeek/ creak free environment.

i think what they called totaled was a new front bumper and a headlight.whatever it was it wasn't much damage at all considering almost every part on the car is original.
