1995 E420 - Removing Distributor Cap/Rotor?

Help needed in removing distributor cap and rotors for cleaning and/or replacing. Any diagrams, etc. would be helpful as the car runs rough if sitting for a few days and clears up after a half hour or so.

Initially rough idle upon startup this morning and sputtering when accelerating but smooth when cruising.

Rotors and caps haven't been changed by the previous owner in a very long time, so thinking it is time to pull them, check and clean them up but I have never done it on the E420 or anything similar.

Thanks in advance, folks!

Perfect! Thanks for that. Pulled both caps and cleaned them up, now the car really runs great! Not in bad enough condition to replace the parts quite yet but the passenger side distributor was nasty. Quick cleanup and set to go.

Thanks so much!

No problem. Mine were pretty bad too. A quick scrub down with the dremel really made a difference. I've heard that the plastic pieces behind the rotors (shown in the photos as part 17) can make a big a difference as the cap/rotors themselves. Apparently when they get old, the spark can jump right through them and ground on the engine heads. No Bueno!
