Engine Wire Harness Compatablity 92 400E and 94 E420 ??
Hey Guys; Will the upper engine wire harness from a 1992 400E (part# 124 543 88 32) properly fit into a 1994 E420 (part # 124 440 19 06) ?? Neither car has the ASR.... AND did the 1992 model year wire harness have the same wire degradation issue as the later years (93,94,95) ?? Found a 92 at local pic A part and want to grab wire harness as a backup AND because my 94 with 200,000 Still has original harness. Please advise And THANKS in advance........Chance

The bio-degrading harness affected all the M119 V8 W124s 91-95...
Without looking at both harnesses that you have I'm thinking, no, they aren't interchangeable due only to the differing part numbers. But who knows, if you lay them next to each other they may actually be the same.
Unless the used 92' harness is like $10...I'd advise not wasting any time with it. A new harness (made after 1996) is what you want. Less than $500. I think there are 17 connectors (at least on a 500E with ASR there is) ...takes about an afternoon to switch them out in the garage/driveway (pretty easy).
