Fuel color question
I just bought 1987 Mercedes 300 Turbo diesel. The vehicle does not work yet, but the tank is full of the following liquid (see photo). Should I drain it? Or just leave it? The smell is similar to some oil, but it is liquidy. It looks like recycled liquid oil. What could it be?

Hard to tell what it is just from color. If in doubt, drain it, set it aside, and fill with fresh known fuel until you sort things out with the car.
Once you get the car working you could put it back in the tank. As long as it's flammable, the right viscosity, and free of contaminants, you should be able to use it.
