Question Check Engine Light 92 400E

Help.....have check engine light illuminated again on my 92 400E. I'm tired of dealer trips to interpret the fault. Does anyone know where I can obtain affordable diagnostic software that wont bust my 3 kids college education fund...(maybe they should go to community college instead....mmmm)...we'll see. Thanks

Your car should have the LED self check light on the right side of the car in the hood. It will let you know what the codes are and will reset them.

You might want to make yourself a pulse reader. A real impulse counter costs about $350, but you can make your own for about $20. Not only can you use it on the KE (fuel injection) system, but on the climate control and SRS systems. A must-have for anyone with a pre-1995 Mercedes (which of course has diagnostics).

Where can I find information in making a pulse counter plus getting the codes to interpret the fault? Thanks for your assistance all.

I'll try to send you a scan of a schematic I made. It's easy and cheap to build because it uses a blinking LED instead of an LCD and counter IC to display the pulses. The only drawback to my version is that you have to count the pulses yourself.
