Hello! I actually edited my post from yesterday, because I realized today that the info and photo I provided was wrong.
I'm the recent owner of a Mercedes Benz 207D that had a motor transplant in the past. All I know is that it's a Mercedes engine with servo and I think it's from a Sprinter 208 or 210. I have the SN but I didn't manage to find out anything about it (capacity, manufacturing year..etc).
So, today while cleaning some oil from the motor I found the small plate I was looking for, right under a small oil spill. I attached a photo with the engine's SN on that small red plate. I'm not sure which one it is.
Doing some research I came to the conclusion that it's an OM601 or OM602 engine. Thing is, that it looks more like an OM602 which has 5 cylinders, but mine has only 4 cylinders - Mine, is exactly like the one from the 2nd picture.
I would really need some help with identifying it exactly so I can be able to order some parts. Thank you so much!

I actually just realized that the answer was written on the small red plate it's definitely an OM601 engine - the only thing I don't know now is the capacity, although I think it's a 2.3l engine. Is there a way to find this out online, using the SN?
Hello I have a 1992 400SE with what i was told to have been swapped out with a 500e engine problem is the alternator went out and now i need to very whats really in the car to get the right part..... Any help would be appreciated...
If i may ask the information for my WDB1240286C276544 chasis datacard. Im trying to find the transmission model for my car . I havent yet jack up the car. My transmission has a delayed shifting issue where it takes few seconds to upshift making the rpm higher when i push hard the accelerator ,well it does not seems like a smooth gear shifting. I just bought this car for abouyt a year now and i have rebuilt the transmission for almost 3 thousand dollars in my country curreny. Im currently residing in malaysia. I felt cheated when i spent so much to rebuild the transmissoin yet its not smooth enoughh yet.. i love the car tho..have spent a tone of money on it to bring it back to its glorious days. Please do advice .Thank you so much.
The price of a rebuilt tranny in NA ranges around $1800-$2500usd (wth core exchange). It could be more $$ in your region.
These trannys are notorious for rear band wear issues so consider yourself lucky that you now have a rebuilt one that should last for many years.
Your issue sounds more of a vacuum leak. Inspect all your vacuum lines and perform a DIY vacuum test to find any leaks. Replace all old lines - this w124 is 27 year old.
You should also check test the vacuum line to the transmission ===> vacuum modulator. Or the vacuum modulator itself may be the issue causing your delayed shifting.
Thank you so uch for information. Will do a thorought check onn the vacuum lines and also the modulator. Have a blessed day ahead. will do update again if it all works in harmony. Thank you Sir.
