I believe I may have the number that should the engine serial number but I just want to make sure. I found a post online that says there is a list of number by the radiator when you open the hood. The only numbers I see that start with 12, are 124032 12. Would that be the correct number that I am looking for? My pulley is making noise when the car is either idling or stopped and I want to order the right one. I don't know if it may help or not but, my car is a 1995 E320.

 

VIN number should reveal all about your vehicle.
It should look like WDx12403212xxxxxx

But from what you have provided thus far your vehicle should be :
Model W124 > 300E/E320 Years 93-95 Chassis No 124.032 Engine No 104.992

The majority of retail parts stores will interpret your parts requirements by using your VIN No anyway.

 

im not sure if its the tensioner pulley or the idler pulley, either way still need a engine serial number in order to order the correct part.

112942 30 589655 is the number from a used replacement engine for my 2002 W163 ML320. It was sold as a 2002 engine but SWEngines out of Tulsa won't provide me with the original vehicle's VIN so I have no way of being certain of the year. I've talked to Mercedes but they can only give me a range of years, 1998-2003. Is there any way to decode it to extract the year it was made?
