Where is the distributor?

I am visiting my Parents and thier '94 E320 has a rough idle. Does not feel like the motor mounts.

I have searched for answers but I would like to check the distributor cap. But, I cant seem to locate it

This car does have one I assume...

Any help would be great, thanks.

I do not know what the actual RPM is but it seems to idle at the correct speed.

It just has those intermittent quick slumps. Nothing too drastic but the you can definetly feel it.

Kinda late here so dont want to start the car up in the garage right now.

Do you know where the distributor?

What are you thinking?

Not sure where distrabutor is too lazy to go into garage and look at my car.

This is what i was thinking, Our cars have adjustable idle's. Sometimes when we do smog checks those mechanics adjust the idle so that it will pass emissions. If thats the case you are idling low and it will be rough. You should be idling at about 700 rpm. But dont try and adjust it yourself. (I dont know how to adjust it.) If you adjust it yourself you could be running too rich will give you more problems later. best thing is to go to dealer let them check it out.

It doesn't have one!
Everything is computer controlled. There are three coils but no distributor. Do a search and you'll find loads relating to 320 idle problems.
It could be an air leak on the intake side.
Too complicated for it's own good!
It might be the wiring harness so that's worth checking.

ps. the idle is also not adjustable on the 320.

Oh my gosh!

If you are looking for the distributor cap and rotor, they are under the black plastic cap in front of the Mercedes-Benz nameplate on top of the engine. All the M103 and M104 engined models run their timing off the end of the camshaft, so there is no formal distributor as on the M116, M117 etc. FYI, the Mercedes-Benz nameplate on the engine is a cover for the plugs and plug wires.
