1996 - E250 Diesel 3rd gear shift problem.
I recently got hold of a 1996(India production) E250 D manual transmission, a fine vehicle to drive around ....However there was this problem with the 3rd gear which I need to get fixed at the earliest. Hope to get an expert opinion on this problem before I hand it over to the service centre.
Problem explained - gear slips from 3rd to neutral when I try to accelerate. I now have to hold back on to third gear to make sure it does not slip while accelerating....otherwise shifting is smooth on all gears including the 3rd. Something to note ...when Engine has run a while and warm... gear seems to slip less often...however gear lever still jerks when I try to accelerate.
Would be appreciated if some insight to the problem can be addressed.
