Wagon shock and spring swap, auto level elimination

Good morning everyone. I was wondering if anyone ever actually went through with swapping sedan type rear shocks and springs for the auto leveling system that came with the wagons. I apologize if this has been discussed already. My car is an 88 300TE. There is nothing wrong with my auto leveling system at the moment, aside from the shocks being worn out and overly soft. I want to make the car a little more performance oriented, including stiffer shocks and possibly aftermarket springs.

The fellows in the thread linked to HERE have come as as close as any I have been able to find to doing what I want to, but none of them claim to have actually ever gotten it done. If I am the first to do so, I will post what it takes to do the job. To get started I will probably get a shock and spring from a junkyard car to see what I can do about fitting the parts to my car. I am aware that the hydraulic pump is integral to the power steering pump, and that there will be a need to swap the pump, which will probably be another junkyard find. I appreciate any advice anyone can give about what needs to happen to get the job done. Thanks in advance guys.

I've done a bit of research and found that you need to also swap out the rear control arms for sedan units.
