Replacement buzzer

I've got a question. My car is a 91 300e

We all know about the annoying little buzzer that you get when you leave your lights on or leave the key in the ignition, but just a couple days ago I realized how annoying it was. I drove a buddies new accord, and when you do the same thing, you get this comforting little "chime, chime chime" not the "EEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHH" you get from my car.

My question is, is there anyway but a replacement buzzer with a different sound, say that MB put on later car but would retrofit into mine? As a last resort only, is there anyway to modify it to either change the sound or reduce the noise level?

The buzzer sits on the back of the instrument cluster (black little box). I found it anoying and just "changed" the sound by putting some tissue paper in the slot the sound emmits from and it is now there but quiet.
