electrical surge
Ok so my 23 year old car decided it wants to develop an electrical issue. I noticed that when the car is running that my lights,both headlights and dash lights dim and then brighten again.it also makes my amp kick on and off.the system is not the issue as it does it even with the system out of the car.I have a good battery and alternator.I have good grounds between the engine and chassis.no bare wire that I can see.so what do I need to look at next? Anyone ever had this problem? Its my families only means of transportation so I need to get it fixed.any help will be appreciated.

A couple of suggestions:
Check/replace the voltage regulator - it could be intermittent so the alternator "tests good", but the regulator can't maintain a constant output.
Check the alternator wiring harness very carefully for deterioration. Degradation is a known problem.
