brake rotor

I am having a problem locating the proper brake rotors for my 1994 e320. I have checked the auto part store and they had two listings.

1.)after chassis # b862122

2.) before # f242721

How do i find out which rotor is the correct one?
Where do i locate the chassis number?

my vin number WDB1240321C118161

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Also would the official Mercedes service CD-ROM produced by MBUSA illustrate and help me change my AC evaporator?

Ramon

The Chassis number they are refering to are the last 7 digits of the VIN in your case C118161. The rest of the VIN is WDB124 0321 describing that you have a W124 (model) and 320 engine.

The official MB CD's should show how to replace the evaporator. Bottom line is, take the whole (and I mean it) the whole dash board apart and than you are pretty much there to replace the part. It is one of the most time consuming things to do

So how do i choose the appropriate rotor?
My Chassis number falls in between both options. I have checked advance autoparts, tirerack, and brembo and they all have the same choices of rotors (listed below) for my vehicle.

1.)after chassis # b862122
C118161
2.) before # f242721

for example:

It looks to me like your chassis is the later version, meaning from B862122. You shoud try a MB parts specialist, especially when it come to parts which change based on VIN (chassis break). I have found the the folks at www.buymbparts.com have an excellent online catalog, with pics for many of their parts and they ship from both coasts (no affiliation). They have many options for your car.

When I see a part listed by an aftermarket supplier that has the type of info you showed us, it makes me think that they missed a footnote in the parts catalog. I think that info is incomplete(1.)after chassis # b862122, 2.) before # f242721), they may actually be the same rotor, but listing #2 failed to mention the early chassis break, so I am skeptical.
