Urgent Fitment HELP!

So today I got my suspension installed on my 300e. I went with bilstien sport struts and h&r spring without the spring pad... well i was very unprepared with my research and had no idea how low my car was going to be, the height of the car does not bother me but the problem is my tires rub on every bump i hit.
Currently I have 16x7.5 et35 with 205/55.
Luckly I have the new set of wheels I was going to install on my car but I do not have the tires yet.
The wheel size is 17x7.5 et35, I have no idea of what tire size to run. I need suggestions on what sizes i should run.

Thanks!

Your 16" wheels and tires are ideal sizes, and if they are rubbing your car if far too low, even if you like the way it looks.

It sounds like you need spring pads to bring it back up a bit.

The target overall tire diameter for a 124 is 25", your 16" set up has a 24.9 inch diameter.

Going to a 17" with the same width and et will not help, you would need a 205/50 R17 tire to get as close to 25" as possible, it comes out to 25.1 inches. and if you downsized further it would be a 205/45, with a diameter of 24.3, way too small.

Fix the ride height, spring pads are cheap, experimenting with wheels and tires is expensive.

Also, have you rolled your fenders? If not ya probably need to...!

W124's were designed back in the 80's, with wheels wells sized for 6 1/2 x 15 et 44 wheels and 195/65 R15 tires.

Your trying to hard to get a low & wide wheel look on a car that isn't designed for low stance and wide wheels.

Try rolling the fenders first, and if that doesn't help, you need spring pads.

If you do put the 17's on, the smallest width tire that works on a 7.5 width 17" wheels is 205/50 R17, but the problem is exactly the same as you have with the 16's.

If the et were closer to 40 it would help.... but you already have et35...

Raise the car...BTW, how far did you lower it?

Your 17s will fit, with 225/45 tire. But you need to roll the fender lips.
And install a fender spacer kit.
After that, if the front rubs, you need A-arm bushing.

Chances are you want a thin spring pad for proper geometry.

And so camber adjustment kits.

Maybe you came down too low my friend.
I have had 235/45/17 on 7 1/2 with ET35's and 245/40/17 on 8 1/2 at the rear.
My car is lowered and the fender have some slight rolling but they fitted with a thin finger gap all round.
