W124 Driver Side Power Window Regulator installation

About six months ago my driver side window gave up the ghost. Taking the door apart, I discovered that the window regulator had snapped all three of its' spot welds. A new one cost nearly U$200 and came with a white 12mm nylon washer (bush). Unfortunately, I had no idea where this washer went and ended up placing it under the motor's dust cover. Bad idea. It has slowed down the window operation and just last week, stopped working altogether….too much strain on the electric motor, I guess.

Anyway, I'm going to have to take the door apart again to rectify this. So the BIG QUESTION is…where the hell does this nylon washer actually go? Photographs attached show my old regulator and a sample motor photograph borrowed from an ebay sale, showing the motor with this nylon washer in situ. Is this where it should be placed or not? Any advice would be most welcome. The door card and regulator is a nightmare to remove and re-install. Don't really want to do it a 3rd time! Thanks, Delboy.

The sole importer here is not interested in helping. Would rather sell you a new car and wave the old one off to the scrapyard! Hand crank? 'Aint seen one of those since Noah invited me round for a 'all you can eat' BBQ.

The nylon washer is a bump stop for the regulator arm. Like you I had trouble deciding whether it was for the top or bottom of the arms travel so I put one on each end. A little trick I learned after replacing the regulator more than once is to turn it upside down inside the door so the "top" is facing down. A lot easier to remove.

Thank you Vexed. When I removed the broken arm, this item was detached. A bump stop makes sense, but why only one? Have to get it out of its current location anyway. Much happier to do this with this additional information. Cheers.

ONe more question. Exactly where does the bush go? On either side of the motor?

Is there an electrical component that stops the motor on the window regulator when the window reaches to the top or bottom? I have a 1990 MB 300E.
