hi when i turn my key in ignition my SRS light does not come on like it should. i checked the bulb and its not that. when it was hooked up to the diagnostic computer the computer was unable to read any codes to tell me what was wrong. so i have no idea if my airbags are functioning or not. does anyone have any trouble shooting ideas or has seen this problem before?? thanks
brett
The only other thing I can think of is to make sure the red connector under the passenger floor mat is connected. If not, disconnect the battery negative first, then reconnect the red coupling.
I've got a similar problem (see posting 'Unable to Diagnose SRS Problem').
The reason why the computer cannot extract codes has been explained in a letter sent to me by DaimlerChrysler UK Limited.
........ we can indeed confirm that the W124 series is not compatible with the Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnostic equipment.
To illustrate the impact of the above statement, imagine the public outcry if, everytime a new version of Microsoft Windows appeared, it rendered all existing copies of Microsoft Office inoperable.
Thus, from your comments, it would appear that your vehicle, like my E200-124, is now 'mute'.
If the vehicle does not interface with the Star Diag. (which is probably the case), you need a pulse counter to read fault codes. However, if the SRS warning lamp does not illuminate for 4 seconds after turning the key, there's something else wrong.
well, my mechanic who does only Benz for about 30 years worked with me (close friends) and we checked the light together etc. after running out of time trying to figure the problem we deicided i would just give him the car for a business appointment etc. so now i am curious what the heck would cause an interruption in the SRS loop??
Jer it was a disconnected wire somewhere in the system. it only took my Mech an hour to find it, but just for the record the first thing we checked we under the pass floor mat. problem solved and case closed!!
