Mostly build quality issues, as well as quality of components. The V6 engines in W210s had harmonic balancer defects, which could wreck the timing case, timing chain, and possibly destroy the engine. Not to mention all the little electronic quirks. The W124 was the most popular and reliable model ever built.

2004 e320
i didn't have any problems with my 4 cyl C230 and in fact i don't notice the difference between the C280 and C230 but there is a great diff in the W124 engine. it rocks!! Find a 124 best looking and best model ever built by MB. I wouldn't take a new benz over my old one.

All the W203 car are cheap. Now I'm not saying they're going to fall apart on you but the build quality is so much like a Kia to me. The interior of the car looks and feels Japanese and the exterior isn't much better. I have driven every US version of the W203 including the C32 ///AMG and can tell you they are cheap.

The W211 is a very nice car and I think has the best interior and exterior look besides the new SL. I've also driven every US version of these as well. They are very good cars but to new to tell about long term quality. They seem to be built as well as the W210.

The W210 is the one I would pick. Since they have been around long enough they have proven themselves and can be bought at good prices. The V6 model seem to really only suffer from one large problem which involves the crankshaft balancer, or something like that. After the year 2000 it was fixed but if you buy an older one just see if it's been replaced, or do it yourself, cheap $$$.

None of these car compare to the build quality of the W124 but the W210 and W211 come the closest. I think used cars are the way to go whichever variant you choose.

Benzari,
I want to get another W124 with E500, but in Indonesia only E320 the top class, only if you change the engine with E500 used one is possible.

Zeronero,
Thanks for your input about W203. I also prefer to buy W210 than 211. Because there's more expensive for W211 new one. For W211 E200K new price will be US$90,000.00, for W211 E260 US$100,000.00 and for W211 E320 Advantgarde US$ 160,000.00, but for W210 V6 engine (1998) price US$45,000.00

For those prices I would for sure go with a used W210. You might also consider a W202 if it's not to small. The next MB that I'm going to buy will be a W202, a C43 or C36
