oil level indicator

I experienced the following, since quite some time. The low oil level light comes on for some seconds upto almost 1 minute (engine warm, normal driving) I changed out the sensor no significant change to the better. When the light comes on the oil level according the dip stick is still about in the middle. If completely filled to the top the light does not come on. Has anybody out there had the same problem. My other, identical (W124 260E) car shows the oil level indicator only when the lowest level according dip stick is reached.

260E , 1989 (for now)
I have noticed that the 260E dip stick (at leat mine) is not of the same lenght as the 3liter engine (103). I have compared my dip stick to two 3 liter negines, and there is a difference of about 1/2in in lenght. (shorter)
Have you noticed that when the low oil level light is on, it will go off as soon as you make a right turn.?? Try it.
My 260E does the same.
I have no soultion to offer. Annoying, yes, dangerous, no.

Sounds like something that happens to me. As the oil level drops and it sloshes around in the sump, it triggers the low oil lamp. I guess this is just one of those little quirks. And I don't think the sensor was designed to be accurate; just to give a rough idea that the oil level is low.

My 260E does the same. "

This is exactly what is takes to make the indication go away. But sometimes it's annoying only drive in circles :-))

What I was thinking is, there might be some controller to the level indication which only activates the light, if the "low" level persists for at least some time continously (30 sec or so).But I could not find any proof therefore in my literature.
