Modifications for 1994 E420
Hey guys, my father just gave me his old 1994 E420 for college graduation (it has 110K miles on it). I was wondering if anyone would suggest any mods for it, in particular engine mods, as i'm new to this car. Thanks.

Any engine mod that would bring out a lot of hp is very costly.
There is one mod that can be done which will bring the 0-60 speed down 1-2 seconds, it's a rear end swap, specifically a different differential. The stock one is 2.24 so it's geared very low. Putting one in that's 2.86 or 3.06 will make the car much faster and be the best bang for the buck.

Thanks for the response zeronero.
What does this mod entail, and how much would it run for parts and labor? The 0-60 now is roughly 7s. Aside from gas mileage and top speed, would the differential affect anything (such as highway acceleration)?

260E , 1989 (for now)
It would improve both low speed and high speed acceleration.
it would reduce top speed, make the engine rev at higher RPM at any speed,(with the corresponding faster wear), and reduce your MPG. it would also make your speedo inacurate if you do not repace the gears. also ,More noise in the cabin (higher rev),
It would also probably reduce the value of the car for a future Benz purist.
