6 door 300e

I just bought this funky 6-door 300e.. ( I think its a 300e maybe its a 260e? , its missing its trunk badge)

who here knows about these? Its got a few issues.. .suspension noise in the rear, no dash lights ( or headlight warning buzzer either!) - Its a euro car with euro vacuum adjustable lights, cloth interior and manual heater controls. It has 4 bucket seats and a bench seat... interesting! I was thinking about taking the middle seats out and doing some things to this car. anyone have some ideas? anyone have an idea what a 6-door 124 is worth??

the previous owner painted south park characters on it , which I plan to remove.. I like the show and all, but I'm not THAT much of a fanboy.

some pics of it and some other benzes (and american iron too) are at

What a weird thing!

The suspension noise could be coming from worn out bushings in the links. The bushings are not available separately; the entire link has to be replaced.

The lack of instrument lighting and no warning buzzer could be a missing fuse. I think they use the same circuit.

Enjoy!

MB did make a long wheelbase W124. Not sure if they made em that early though. The ones I've seen have always been 90+ models (with the plastic lower body claddings)..

it looks like the factory mercedes limo though

thanks for the replies--- I asked a guy I know at MBUSA, and he mentioned that there were some 124 limos made in-house. interesting! either way, its a pretty neat car. I'm trying to wade through it and find out what sort of issues it has developed from un-attentive owners. looks like the Vacuum locks arent working either. I suppose I'll have to check the pump, etc... does anyone have a method for testing the vacuum lock system?

Have you tried operating the central locking from the trunk / driver's side lock?

Either one of those or the driver's door lock should operate the central locking.

Is the vacuum pump in the trunk like a W126? I can hear the pump working somewhere when I lock my car...

if I find a 6-door W124 I would definitely restore the car! or at least make it look presentable maybe with either a white/black paintjob

if you want to find out which engine it has, find out the car's chassis code...

look in the engine compartment in front of the radiator. Should be 124 xxx

if it's a six gas, it's either the 2.6 or the 3.0 I guess. I've been in one. it was a 250D... in Hong Kong
