Mercedes Benz 200 e (w124)
HELP! 1989, 200e (w124) Manual
Welcome to an idiot.
I was out driving and got told to do a burnout...
As stupid iam i did, after like 15-30min my car was acting more and more wierd. i went to a parking lot and checked everything, nothing seemed wrong. Then when I started to drive of I did a sharp turn to the right and it would not move foward. I went to the lot in the first place becaus it pulled to the right...
I can change gear without clutch, R and 1 no sound. 2,3,4 it will start making wierd noises and speed meter goes up to 30km/h(18mph) but wont move. I suck at cars so please help.
Then the last question: can i take other mercedes part on to it and then what cars + can I put a 5speed gear on mine car when it has now a 4speed.

You may have blown the spider gears/carrier in the differential. The driveshaft is turning (hence the reading on the speedo which is driven by the output shaft of the transmission), but the power is not being transferred to the wheels. The spider cluster probably stayed together until you turned right which caused the spider gears to rotate and fall out of the carrier.

Floby The drive shaft is not moving, and if it was, the car would move The drive shaft is in 2 parts ,one on the left and one on the right of the back axle, or pinion The parts that turn both the rear wheels , is it not? Propshaft is bolted to the gearbox flange May be we are thinking of the same thing only the name fro propshaft in the usa is not the same as uk ..

Sorry for the confusion in terminology - in the U.S. we would say that the "driveshaft" runs from the output of the transmission to the input of the differential. In Europe/UK it would be called the propeller shaft or prop shaft. The 2 "axle shafts" or "half shafts" run from the differential to each rear wheel.

Why race a 28 years old car? Unless the car was maintained in tip-top condition, the 15-30 minute burnout has done more damage than the normal wear and tear in its lifetime, and the damage was not limited to the clutch, gearbox and differential. I imagine that it won't be an economical repair.
