1994 E320 Central Locking Issue
I had recent trunk repair done (rear ended). I picked up the car yesterday. Looks good but trunk lock no longer activates the central locking system. Also, when I operate the driver's door lock, all doors and gas lid open then close a second later. I suspect the rear trunk lock is broken. It was hit fairly hard in the accident and was not replaced. Should I just replace the lock or is it not connected correctly? There is a 2-wire plug that is connected. Any suggestions? Thank you.

There should be 3 wires on the connector to the trunk lock assembly (power [red/white], ground [brown], and trigger[yellow]) along with a vacuum line. If you only have 2 wires, one must have been damaged, cut, etc. by the accident. If all three are there then the trigger switches inside the trunk lock assembly were probably damaged in the accident so it should be replaced.

Thanks for the info. I need to examine the locking mechanism more closely. I can't seem to find the 3rd wire. There is only a 2-pin connector. I'll look more closely. About the door locks automatically closing after opening them... if the trunk lock is damaged, it may be shorted in some way to cause that closure. Not certain, just thinking out loud. Does that make sense? If so, I should buy a replacement lock but need to check that part number first. Need to get the correct part.
