High Idle With New harness
New to me is a 95 E320 Wagon, the seller was asking $500, after he told me the harness was replaced, I got excited and immediately beat him down to $350.
At 327,XXX miles the thing runs great. Except the trans needed servicing really badly, flares between 2-3 and 3-4... I can live with that because I have a 722.6 to swap.
My main concern is high idle. The original ETA seems to be repaired because the insulator on the harness that is coming from it is definitely not a factory insulator, I swapped another ETA and got the same result.
So I made some slits into the harness close to the ECU and did the same to the opposite side closer to the ETA side and saw the shiny new wires inside. I can post pics tomorrow
Could it be that the ECU might be damaged, any input and consideration would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Out Of Control!!
Your engine is an HFM type 104.992---idle speed 700+-50.
Before you do any of the electronic idle speed diagnostics with your HHT make sure that you review the attached linkage adjustment doc----is it adjusted correctly--Yes or No

When i installed the ETA i left the linkages disconnected, the idle was still high.
interestingly enough though, ive been thinking of disconnecting the linkages again and unplug the ETA harness to see what happens.
I have been in perplexing situations like this before and eventually an ahaa! moment surfaced. However this one seems to be quite the enigma

Would look for other preoblem before you make any adjustments
My guese would be vacuum pipe off some place ,sucking air in .
Give it a good check, if it ran low revs before the repair ,then it should do now .

Well if its any thing to go by,, my rocker box gasket leaks a little ,, and at the timming chain cover. And my idle is bang on .But first check all the vacuum hoses and small bore nylon pipes . The tranny also uses vacuum to help smoth out changing of the auto box in more ways than one. Is the vacuum pipe secure on the gearbox. Let us know .

You are correct my good man..
I changed all valve cover things and no change.
Yes my trans vac is good, because i thought the modulator was bad so I replaced the rubber fitting the goed between it and yge nylon line.
however; while replacing the valve cover stuff i noticed an open port on the intake manifold.. see pic.
I havent tried blocking it as yet, though it seems like something should be connected there. Picture is a lil dark. But the port is at the end of the screwdriver. It it located under the intake runners that is under the point where in intake duct crosses over the motor
