Hello Everyone,

I'm happy to be a part of the community. I have a blue 1987 260e with 80K original miles. The tranny is knocking and 4th gear is completely gone. I'm trying to figure out how to revive her. She's been great to me. The mechanic is saying $4,500 parts and labor.

Have any of you made it through a situation like this? Everything else on the car is fantastic inside and out.
