300e/se 1990-91

Need to replace my 1979 300SD Turbo. At 260,000, it is beginning to fail in too many ways to keep up economically. Being a little phobic about computer chips in my cars, my mechanic suggested a 1990 or 1991 300 E or 300 SE as a suitable replacement for my 300 SD. Any advice?

The 300SD has a Diesel engine the 300E and the 300SE are gasoline engines. If you are replacing yours with one of those you need to replace everything motor management, exaust system, cat. inverters, intakes, Transmission, .....

I'm pretty sure he meant replacing the whole car, not just the engine.

kc, the 300e is a very good car. A little less space than the 300se but quite a bit lighter (meaning better performance). I guess it mainly depends on how much space you need.
