2.4 amp drain

meter is reading 2.4 amp draw when connecting to negative cable and negative terminal with car off and negative cable disconnected.. is this normal? my car wouldnt start a week ago its really cold here my mechanic said i needed a new battery which I put in but I'm just confused. did the same test on my other 300e and its at 3 amps. my dads chevy truck reads 2 amps.

First. Check output from alternator .. A reason of the voltage drop overnight is the regulator inside the altrrnator .

That seems like a lot. Wonder if it's the factory alarm? Or car stereo?

Start pulling fuses one at a time to isolate the circuit that's causing that huge draw.
