W124 300E 1986 USA pictures/Repairs
The car was from a lawyer that had bought the car in fresno and held the car for 28 years. I have the name tag as well as the service from the dealer(Mercedes of walnut creek)
The car is shipped in 2012 to the netherlands and bought by someone that kept the car for 2 years.After the 2 years he sold it to me because the car needed some care but had no rust at all just worn parts (potentiometer injectors)
Like i said i used the car for 1 year and made a big trip 3500 km vacation and i really fell in love with the handling , style and the comfort of the car.
I love the palomino mb-tex interior US style rather than the basic europe versions with almost nothing inside.
The engine has 129.345 miles on the odo and i bought it with 113.000 ,engine itself is in superb condition.
I have started with replacing engine parts that are worn out and by now i have overhauled the 722.320 and will share all my work on this website.
I will post every picture from the beginning until now and if you have some comments or questions please ask.

This was just before i started changing the old leaking waterpump and more parts
I changed:
Old coolant reservoir
6xnew injectors bosch
New waterpumpskf
New tensioner skf
New belt contitech
New hoses(Vacuum/coolant)Dealer
New coolant g12+ (old coolant was also g12+) is use this coolant above the standard g11(wears out in 2 years) so i prefer the new universal g12+ you can use it if the car is flushed otherwhise it could cause damage.
The waterpump died after 25 years of service so its not the fault of the coolant.
Also powdercoated the valve cover
On the last picture i changed the old worn potentiometer for a bosch unit(was adjusted to 0.6-0.7 volt and works good (rpms steady 600
The problem was a worn beru distibutor+rotor
Beru has problems with this engine so i replaced it with a bosch distributor+rotor and the car started without problems.
Next problem was again a no start conidtion (when i was washing my car)
I was towed by my friend to my house(1 km away) and the problem was a cable from the starter that had no insulation left
So the cable was shorting out on the starter body.
I removed the starter and did a examination to look if the brushes are almost worn.Its best to check that when the starter is removed,new brushes are not expensive.
The brushes looked like from factory so i gave it a new insulation and the starter was good to go.
The engine started without problems.
Before december 2017 i was on a 3500 km vacation trip without any problems.
In 2017 i was starting the big fresh up job for my m103 (remove all parts from the engine and replace old seals(paint the headers and intake manifold
Give away all metal parts for zinc plating yellow etc etc(polishing some parts)
Removing the trans+driveshaft for inspection
And it was time to start.
