300E cooling system help
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I recently bought a 1990 300E AMG 3.4 that I couldn't pass up. Looks just like the hammer, but a smaller six cylinder under the hood that AMG did the works on.
It's my first real foray into MB. I don't count my wife's lease on a 2017 GLA250. The level of engineering and thoughtfulness put into that vs mine that's 30 years older isn't even close!
Anyways, I'm having some issues with my cooling system. I'm not very auto-mechanically inclined, but learning as I go.
Had a mechanic friend look over it who's going to assist me in getting everything right. I'm currently buying the parts I need.
New hoses, thermostat, temperature sensor and cooling fan. Thankfully the head gasket is fine, but she's getting quite hot.
The cooling fan definitely needs to be replaced, and I believe the clutch as well.
I can't seem to find the best replacement for it. Ideally, I'd like to buy the entire assembly if possible, but I don't see it anywhere online. I see some that say they might work, but the pics don't match up so I'm not sure.
Any assistance would be appreciated in finding the right part please. I have tried to search the forum and the internet, but can't find it on my own.
I'm going to be flushing the coolant system at the same time as replacing all of these parts, as well as a full tune up and changing the oil and trans fluid.
Thank you! This car is a dream to drive so far. The suspension blows my mind that i'ts 30 years old now.
