Transmission lifespan???
1988 300TE with 160K miles and a leaky tranny. Will, with some distress, part with this estate beast as I'm eagerly awaiting to acquire (god willing) a new C class diesel wagon -- 1 or 2 years away.
Tranny shifts fine but wife will stand by parking our fine motorcar over a catbox due to leaks.
Query: I can have the tranny's external seals replaced at a reasonable sum, but have been told I should just order a rebuild. If I go ahead and reseal, what kind of lifespan should I expect from the tranny? It seems fine, aside from the leaks, by me.
