Keyless Entry in an 87 300E

I've got a 1987 300E and I was wondering how you would go about installing a keyless entry system. I don't know a great deal about cars and working on them, and I would be happy for any direction you can give me. The big thing I'm not sure about is the vacuum lock system, will I need to replace it and go for a straight up electrical system? Is there any specific brand of keyless entry. One other thing. Is there a way to make the old 300E keys into one of those new flip keys??

Thanks
Mike

Keyless entry can be done. I have it in my 87 300E. It is not that hard to do. You will need 2 actuators, one to open the locks and one to close the locks. This is because of the vacuum lock system.

Cool

I have converted both of my W124 with WAECO MT-350. Works great since 4 years. I did it since my lock cylinders and keys seem to be worn. A new lock system was x-times more than the simple to install (DIY) WAECO system. Takes about 1 hour to install.
Here is their web site for DIY products. You just have to locate dealer:

Crutchfield has one for only $70 that works fine with the factory setup. YOu only need to add 2 (inexpensive) relays. Simple. Been in my '87 300E for over a year and love it.
