Power steering has failed
Greetings!
I have a 1991 300TE Base model w/self leveling suspension. One of the line fittings on the power steering was leaking fluid. It eventually caused the pump to start making noise. I tightened up the fitting and filled it with fluid. It continued to make noise. A friend of mine suggested I turn the steering wheel back and forth lock to lock to push the air out. (I have found out that this was not the thing to do.) After doing so the noise ceased to exist. However, so did the power steering. There is no assist at all from the pump.
My question is: Do I need to replace the pump because it no longer creates pressure? How do I make sure the air is completely purged from the system? How do l find out who the pump manufacturer is?
Thanks!

well...you can disconnect the high pressure line and see if stuff squirts out. If nada, then you need a new pump.
Probably can get a rebuilt one from your local auto store. Rockauto.com or ???
