Speedo Needle Bounce

Hi All,

This is my first post, and my first Mecedes, a 94 E320 Sedan, Black with 88K miles.

The only two problems noted on this vehicle are:
1 - the speedometer needle flucuates as you drive, (eg at 30 MPH it boounces between 25 and 35) it seems to flucuate faster as the speed increases, but once you get to 65 + MPH it is rock steady on the speed you are doing ... any ideas?

2 - The rear shocks look like they are original and feel soft (visible oil leakage around the tube) so they will need to be replaced, what brand do you think works best, this is going to be a touring car not a hotrod, so I want to keep some comfort but firm it up to get rid of that floating feeling. Brands ... reccomendations?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Yeah me too

I also have the same speedo problem with my 91 230E. It hovers like a mother-hover! (hehe ...)

Anybody got any ideas????

I remember reading somewhere that this could be caused by over greasing the cable.

The advice was to whip out the inner and wipe off most of the grease and then refit. Never tried it myself, just got used to the bouncy needle
