W124 engine wiring harness/loom

My '94 E280 looks like it will need the above replaced.

4 questions:

Can anyone supply a schematic of the harness or give me an idea of just what the part consists of?

Given the cost of the part from MB has anyone investigated the cost or feasibility of getting the part made up by an auto electrician?

Does anyone know if it has any unusual/rare/MB specific connectors that are not off the shelf parts?

My friendly auto electrician was of the view that it could be built for less than the rrp of the part - subject to the answers to 1 and 3 above.

Are these available from other than MB?

Thanks.

Wiring Harness Repair

92 E300 24v

i just did a repair of my wiring harness 3 months ago with my electrician.
we replace each wire one at a time and spliced and solder each at different levels near the ECU and MAS plugs at the battery compartment area but we did not touch the wires to the throtthe body because it appears to be shielded. Most of the wires running beside the engine and exposed to extreme heat are defective. then we double shielded it.

Total cost of repair amounted to $100 (philippines)
MB dealer quotation for replacement: $2000-3000
