Engine Oil Cooler
Gooday Gentlemen !
Mercedese e320 1995 4 door sedan 92,000 miles
Need some advice... I notice oil in the Coolent/antifreeze resvior...
No white smoke from the exhaust.
Not over heating, temp. steady at about 96 degrees.
Oil pressure..Good, to the max on the dial.
Does this model have a Engine Oil Cooler,
and if so.. where would it be located ?
Any Advice would be Most Appreciated....
ThankYou,
Greg

Out Of Control!!
With your VIN there is no engine oil cooler nor does the radiator act as a transmission cooling such as the W210

Thanks for ur prompt response....
The oil in the reservoir AntiFreeze smell like motor oil and dark colored.
My transmission fluid is nice and pleasant smelling, no droplets on the dipstick.
Does the 1995 E320 Mercedes Vin:WDBEA32E9RCO62665 have a Engine oil Cooler ?
Where would it be located ?
Again thank you, Look forward to your response....

Head Gasket needs replacement
It's been a while for me as the only Merc I own with a 104 is my 92 Coupe. The M104 motors are notorious for having their factory head gaskets fail.
As I recall it's the basic design of how the head is assembled to the block, someone who works on these more often will have a much better explanation,
The head gasket failure can manifest itself in a couple of ways, external oil leaks and internal oil leaks.
I know white smoke is the normal indicator, but not always with M104's.
In my case my coupe had an annoying drip of oil, and when I asked my indie about it he said it was time to replace the head gasket, leaking at the front of the motor.
So I told him to go ahead, and while the head was off, he recommended a new timing chain, tension-er, etc. I forget what all was done, but it made sense since it was apart.
So for you, the oil leak is between an oil passage going to the head, which is nearby a coolant passage, which the head gasket should be sealing off but isn't.
Your head gasket leak isn't the coolant leaking into a cylinder, it's an oil passage leaking into the coolant, hence no white smoke present.
If the head gasket was never changed out since leaving the factory, it needs it now.
Just go to Google and type in "Mercedes M104 oil in coolant", you will get several links to read, an old and very well know problem.
Don't bother with the flush and new coolant, just a waste of time and money, the oil will continue to leak into the new coolant.
Replace all the wearable parts on the front of the motor that have to come off to replace the head gasket. Timing chain, chain guides, tensioner, water pump thermostat.
Do this correctly now, and you won't have this problem again, I believe the newest head gaskets from Mercedes are more robust.

Good Luck
