Can someone please tell me how to locate the fuel gage sending unit on a 1989 300CE. Many thanks for any info. RMHC

The sending unit is in the top of the fuel tank behind the back seat. Just open your trunk and on the far back wall, pull down the fasteners holding up the carpet and you should see the tank. On the top you should see a white circular piece of plastic with a small harness going into it top center of the tank. That's the sending unit I believe it's a 32mm socket that loosens the nut to take it out. you can depressurize the system by just unscrewing your gas cap before removal.
