Fuel filter
It´s under the car. Beneath the rear seat, on the passenger side. You need to remove a small plastic cover retained by four plastic nuts to gain access to it. Required tools are a 19mm and a 17mm wrench. Plus a screwdriver..

If it's like my car, it's in front of the differential. The plastic cover that needs to be removed is flush with the undercarriage. I remember using a socket ratchet with a long (12"?) extension to remove the cover fasteners, which were angled.

Advice
Before you send your son down under (the car) remember it is a awefully messy job. Fuel is draining all over even if you clamp all the fuel lines. If you dont have a lift, I would not DIY. The lines and connectors mostly are corroded and you may need replacement parts.

Think he looked there, but will send him there again.
