1991 300TE 4MATIC
What is this?

I had the transmission on my 1991 300TE 4MATIC rebuilt. I removed it myself and took it to the shop. While installing it I stripped out a 12mm hard line fitting on the back of the transfer case. I followed the two lines (supply and return) back to the right rear of the vehicle. When I took the plastic cover off, I saw this:

It looks like a line busted. So instead of fixing it right they just rigged a loop with a rubber hose.
I want to put this back together correctly, but I can’t find any information on the unit those lines are supposed to go to. I think it has to do with the automatic ride adjustment. Here is a picture of what I think is the part number:

You can see where they plugged the fittings for the lines.

Can anyone get me some info on this (part numbers, diagrams, photos)?
