Euro Headlights

There is always much talk about "Euro Headlights" for the 124 body. These are the original headlight designed for the 124 by Mercedes and are original equipment on all 124 body MB's in the world EXCEPT in the U.S.! They provide vastly superior light pattern as well as output. The standard bulb for Euro lights is 80/100 in Europe. The do not offend oncoming traffic at night because of their unique light pattern which elevates the beam to illuminate roadside signs. The individual at the D.O.T in the '80's who mandated that all imported cars headlights should be the same as those on American cars caused manufacturers to reduce the size of their headlights and have a plastic surround made to fill the space. Volvo, Peugot, Mercedes and others have now returned to equipping their cars with superior headlights. On Peter Hack's website there are many MB European owners whose cars all have"Euro's" on them. They update the light output as well as the overall look of the 124. P.
